FC Barcelona made their first statement against Valladolid (7-0) in what could be a great season with Hansi Flick in charge. The historic win against the Pucelano team confirmed the best start in LaLiga for Barça since 2020/21, when under the orders of Ronald Koeman they also maintained the perfect pace in the first four games, with victories against Elche, Athletic Club, Villarreal and Celta, with 13 goals scored and only 2 against.

In 2024/25, the statistics are almost identical, with the same number of goals scored and only 3 conceded against Valencia, Athletic, Rayo and Valladolid. After three 2-1 victories (two of them away), the Blaugrana team unleashed all their offensive power against Paulo Pezzolano's men, who barely got close to the opponent's area during the 90 minutes at Montjuïc. Robert Lewandowski (4) and Raphinha (3) lead the scoring output, while Lamine Yamal has also contributed with a goal and 4 assists.

Hansi Flick is closer to achieving his first major record with Barça

For Flick, the sensations are very positive at the start of LaLiga. Beyond the statistical issue, the team is playing better and better, with intense pressure in the opponent's half and a compact block, reducing the spaces for the opponent and with solidity between the lines to forget the defensive fragility shown last season. With Saturday's victory, the Heidelberg team is now four victories away from equalling the best start in the history of Barça in the League, obtained by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino's team in 2013/14.

That team won its first eight games until the goalless draw in Pamplona against Osasuna on matchday 9. The best first round of the season is still that of the 2012/13 season, with a total of 18 victories (six in the first six matches) and 1 draw (55 points out of 57 possible). After 'Tata', Ernesto Valverde's best start in the league was in 2017/18, with a full house of wins in the first seven games. With the exception of 2013/14, Barça managed to lift the title in every other season, with 2012/13 being the best with a record score (100).
