Hansi Flick faced the media after being sent off in Barça's draw against Betis (2-2)
December 7 was an afternoon to forget for Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona. The Catalan team suffered a painful draw against Real Betis (2-2) and the coach was sent off at the Benito Villamarín for angrily protesting the penalty awarded in favour of the Verdiblancos for a foul by Frenkie de Jong on Vitor Roque.
At the end of the match, the coach appeared before the media and, in addition to assessing his team's performance, explained his sanction. "I strongly disagree with our performance and with myself. In the first half we had the best chances with goals, but I missed more chances in the first and second half," the German began by saying.
"We didn't play a good game. We are a young team and we have to improve. When we play away we have to be stronger. We have the quality so it is our problem," commented a Flick afterwards, visibly affected by Barça's result in Seville.
Flick spoke about his expulsion
Regarding Muñíz Ruíz's decision to show him the red card, the German said that "I don't think I have complained much. He needed a lot of time looking at it and if you need so much time it's because maybe he wasn't."
"I'm not proud of myself (for the expulsion), they said something to the referee and they decided to give me the red card"
Finally, after his initial defense, Flick, in addition to admitting that they will not appeal his sanction, decided not to continue commenting on the refereeing by stating forcefully that "I will not talk about the referees. I will not say anything."
