FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was extremely happy with the 7-0 win over Valladolid in matchday 4 of LaLiga and took the opportunity to highlight the work his players did on the pitch
Hansi Flick is happy with FC Barcelona's 7-0 win over Valladolid in LaLiga matchday 4. The German coach was full of praise for his team's work and the great support they have received from the fans: "We are in the fourth game, our goal was to win all four games before the break and the players have done very well. I am very happy that the fans are showing that but it is because of what the team does. What I can say is that when we go out to eat or have dinner and we meet people they are very kind to us and that gives us a lot of energy. We have a very good atmosphere, a very good mentality, the staff, the physios, the doctors are putting all their energy into making the team better. We are like a family."
The German coach explained that when you have the support of the club's fans "you feel something special" on the pitch. "When we attacked we went for another goal. That's good and makes the fans proud. That's what we're here for, to give the best individual and collective performance," said the director of the Barça team. He added: "I'm proud. The situation is good for me because the fans are happy, but we have a lot of work until the end of the season. These days of rest will be good for the staff. I hope that the internationals can win their games because that will give them confidence. But then they can think about Barça."
Flick praises the work of Olmo, Raphina and Casadó
As could not be otherwise, the Blaugrana coach spoke of three men who shone against Valladolid. One of them was Dani Olmo, who he knows from his time as Bayern Munich coach and faced when he was at RB Leipzig: "I know him very well, I played against him at Leipzig. He's very good and when he plays in the middle too, he has a very good connection with Pedri. We also have a good bench with Fermín, who can play in these positions too. That helps the team."
Flick also spoke about Raphinha, who was the MVP of the match by scoring three goals: "I've seen him play regularly and I'm not surprised. He needed time to score a hat trick but he has the quality for it. He's a great performer. Raphinha works hard to make space for others. He does many things very well, he's one of those players who has done very well in these four games."
As for Casadó, who has positioned himself as the ideal replacement for Marc Bernal, he revealed the chat he had with the 20-year-old. "We had to talk, I told him that he had to be in front of the defenders and I told him how he had to shape up with the ball. I like the players to be interested in whether they are playing well," he added.
The German congratulated the Barcelona doctors
At the press conference, the German coach thanked the Barcelona sporting director for the new specialists in the area of physical preparation that he signed this summer: Julio Tous, Pep Conde and Rafa Maldonado. "When we started the preseason we analysed everything and I want to thank Deco because he has brought great experts for training. The medical team is also very good. This also empowers the players, knowing that they are in good hands. It gives them a lot of strength to know that they are very well trained to be at their best for 90 minutes."
However, Flick was cautious and recalled that the team has 12 points but that "football moves very quickly," so "you can be up or down in a very short time." Despite this, he knows that his project is yielding results: "I think it's a process. We plan everything in pre-season and when you have an idea and you win games it gives you confidence. Sometimes we press too high, we don't like the team to go backwards. The players know what to do with the ball, we've scored these 7 goals and it seems that everything is going well. We're very happy with what's happened on the pitch, I like this good connection with the fans. Everyone is 100% behind Barça and if we do it on the pitch that is transferred to the stands. Our players play very well and they've also worked hard. I like this new connection," he concluded.
