This Wednesday, FC Barcelona became the first club to reach 6,500 goals in official LaLiga matches. Robert Lewandowski reached the historic figure in the 19th minute of the duel against Getafe (1-0)
FC Barcelona made history this Wednesday in LaLiga on its return to Montjuïc to face Getafe. Hansi Flick's men opened the scoring in the 19th minute thanks to a goal scored by Robert Lewandowski, the club's 6,500th in the tournament. With this, the culés become the first club to reach this figure in the Spanish First Division, surpassing Real Madrid.
Over 94 seasons, all in the First Division, the Barça team has played 3,035 matches in which they scored 6,500 goals for and 3,362 against, with a difference of +3,138. Although Real Madrid leads the historical classification with 4,976 points (Barça has 4,870), the culés are the first to reach 6,500 goals scored, since the 'merengues' were at 6,499 after the victory against Alavés (3-2) .
Lewandowski signs up for Barça's 'golden' history
For Lewandowski, the goal scored against Getafe was his seventh so far in the League, which means he remains top scorer with a couple more goals than Mbappé and Raphinha, his closest pursuers. The Pole has scored 63 goals in 103 official matches with the club and added to the Barça's 'golden' history by converting one of the team's many 'round' goals in the top Spanish competition.
And, as scorer of goal 6,500, 'Lewy' joins names like Patrick Kluivert (scorer of goal 4,500), Cesc Fàbregas (scored goal 5,500) and Leo Messi (scored goals 5,000 and 6,000) on a select list which was inaugurated by the Spanish Manuel Parera, who on February 12, 1929 scored Barça's first goal in the tournament. It was in the Barça victory over Racing de Santander (0-2).
