FC Barcelona will return to action in LaLiga this Saturday (9:00 p.m. CEST) when they visit Celta de Vigo in Balaídos, a field where the culés have faced some problems in their last visits
FC Barcelona will play matchday 14 of LaLiga 2024/25 this Saturday against Celta de Vigo in Balaídos, a field where the culés have two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five appearances. After the loss in San Sebastián against Real Sociedad (1-0), Hansi Flick's men arrive in Galicia with the obligation to add three so as not to compromise the leadership. At FCBN we review how Barça has fared on Galician soil in recent seasons.
Balanced luck for Barça in their last visits to Balaídos
The most recent culé visit to the Galician team took place on February 17 of this year. On matchday 25 of LaLiga 2023/24, Barça won thanks to a double from Robert Lewandowski, the last of which was a penalty in the seventh minute of added time. Iago Aspas had equalized the score at the beginning of the second half.
In 2022/23, Xavi Hernández's team fell at Balaídos in a duel for the final day of the championship. The Barça team had secured the title since matchday 34 and fell by the narrowest margin (2-1) as a result of a double from Gabri Veiga. Ansu Fati scored for Barça in the final stretch of the match.
The '10' was also the protagonist of the culés' previous visit to Galicia in the tournament. On November 6, 2021, with Sergi Barjuán on the bench, the Blaugrana team tied a match that they had won 0-3 after half an hour of play. Ansu, Busquets and Depay put Barça ahead in a first half where Fati broke down again. In the complement, Aspas (double) and Nolito sealed Celta's historic reaction to declare the final 3-3.
A year earlier, in 2020, Barça visited Balaídos on a couple of occasions. The first was in June, on matchday 32 of LaLiga 2019/20. The culés got a point from a very intense duel that ended 2-2. Luis Suárez (double) scored the Barça goals. Then, in October of that year, on matchday 4 of 2020/21, Barça won with authority (0-3). Ansu Fati, Olaza (own goal) and Sergi Roberto sealed the win.
