Iñaki Peña was the star of the game for Barça against Betis. The goalkeeper made several miraculous saves to prevent the Catalans from losing in Seville
Iñaki Peña showed at the Benito Villamarín that the future of the FC Barcelona goal is in his gloves. Despite having conceded two goals, in which he was not responsible, the Alicante native dressed as a 'hero' with several saving interventions that prevented a painful defeat for the Blaugrana team against Betis.
From the first minute, the Barça goalkeeper made it clear that he was not going to let his goal fall easily. The youth player solved a one-on-one with Ez Abde in a great way at the start of the match, and from that moment on he made several saves of merit, such as the miraculous hand to clear a point-blank shot from Chimy Ávila, which kept Barça in the game until the end.
Iñaki Peña's words
After the match, Peña spoke to the press and expressed his disappointment by saying that "we are screwed. Letting two points slip away by putting ourselves ahead in a second half in which we suffered so much and Betis cornered us... In the end, letting two points slip away is very difficult, especially so late, in an isolated play."
"In the first half we did have that pause to wait for them to jump and find spaces behind the midfielders. In the second half they equalised us and we ended up playing long and it was very difficult. They grew and the stadium turned out for them. The penalty? If it goes to the VAR and sees it, let's hope it's a penalty, if not it's a mistake," lamented the goalkeeper.
However, he wanted to highlight his satisfaction for his good personal moment. "On a personal level I'm very happy to show the work that one does. That goes deep inside and it's a pride and a pleasure to play for Barça," said Iñaki, who, according to Hansi Flick "saved us today and has managed to keep that point."
