Iñaki Peña had a difficult night on Saturday against Osasuna (4-2). The man from Alicante was not responsible for the 'rojillos' goals, but he conceded too much again

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona revived its ghosts from last season on Saturday against Osasuna (4-2) in a night to be forgotten by the Barça defense. The day was particularly hard for Iñaki Peña, who after two games without conceding goals conceded 4 goals at El Sadar. For the man from Alicante, his average of goals conceded is already beginning to resemble that of 2023/24, where he barely managed to keep his clean sheet in a couple of LaLiga games.

Iñaki started 10 games in which Barça conceded 17 goals. In total, the '13' received 32 goals in 17 games in all competitions. Marc-André ter Stegen, for his part, closed the season with 37 goals conceded in 36 games, more than double the number played by his colleague. Although the coaching staff has expressed its confidence in the Spanish goalkeeper, it is unlikely that he will be able to maintain the starting position with such a low average.

Iñaki Peña, designated for Osasuna's first goal

Of the goals at El Sadar, the man from Alicante only had some responsibility in Ante Budimir's first. Iñaki remained screwed in his goal after Bryan Zaragoza's center, allowing the 'rojillo' striker to head at will entering the six-yard box. At 2-0, Zaragoza eluded him with a 'crack' dribble in one-on-one, while in the 3-1 penalty he guessed the side, but Budimir's shot was very close. In the last goal, there was really little to do against Bretones' powerful long shot.

Peña closed the game with just one save and 20 of 25 passes completed (80%). On Tuesday, against Young Boys, he will have a new opportunity to redeem himself in the Champions League, a tournament in which he conceded 4 goals in a couple of appearances last season. Barça hopes to close the signing of Wojciech Szczęsny on Monday, but the Pole's inactivity will mean that his official debut will be postponed, at least, until after the next national team break.
