CA Osasuna questions the date of the match against FC Barcelona
The decision to reschedule the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna, initially set for March 8 and now moved to March 27, seems, at first glance, incomprehensible. Especially because from the beginning it was mentioned that both teams were in disagreement with this date, which apparently was only driven by LaLiga. In this situation, it is not surprising that the teams are considering appealing the decision supported by the Sole Judge of Professional Competitions.
According to reports from 'Mundo Deportivo', in addition to FC Barcelona's intention to challenge the decision, CA Osasuna, also dissatisfied with the situation, has decided to file an appeal with the same judge. This under the argument that the agreed date for this match is "unnecessary."
- What does the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) base the match on March 27 on? 🔎: At a regulatory level, it is stated that "the match must be scheduled as soon as possible," and for the RFEF, it is feasible before that date. Furthermore, the absence of international players is dismissed and reference is made to the fact that between matchdays 37 and 38, it was not feasible to hold the match due to the possible "disruption of the competition" as both are final matchdays with a unified schedule.
CA Osasuna also has a significant reason not to play the match on March 27
In this sense, it is important to note that CA Osasuna has March 27 free to play against FC Barcelona, but what is not being considered is that the 'rojillo' team has another match scheduled for the following day, March 28, in Pamplona against Athletic Club. This situation lacks logic as it would mean that the Navarrese team plays two matches on consecutive days, contradicting the recommendations of the AFE (Spanish Footballers Association) on the minimum rest time between matches.
"AFE considers it essential that players have at least 72 hours of rest. A criterion also marked by the recommendations of FIFPRO"
In this scenario, it is necessary to make adjustments to the schedules of the Barça-Osasuna match or consider the requests of both clubs for a more suitable schedule, perhaps between matchdays 37 and 38, a date that both teams agreed to reschedule. Otherwise, it may be necessary to change the date of the match against Athletic Club by the Navarrese team in matchday 29. However, it is clear that it is not viable for the 'rojillos' to participate in two consecutive matches in just a couple of days.
