Robert Lewandowski returned to scoring form on Sunday against Villarreal with a double (1-5). The Pole broke the streak of two games without scoring and, despite missing a penalty, is the sole leader in the Pichichi table in LaLiga

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona crushed Villarreal in a match in which literally everything happened (1-5), including Marc-André ter Stegen's serious injury. With an alternative eleven, the Catalans won with their punches at El Madrigal, once again with Robert Lewandowski 'on fire'. The 36-year-old striker had gone two consecutive games (Girona and Monaco) without scoring and returned to scoring with a timely double that led to the Barça victory, the sixth in the same number of League matches.

'Lewy' opened the scoring in the 20th minute, taking advantage of a great filtered pass from Pablo Torre to finish masterfully in a one-on-one against Diego Conde. 15 minutes later, the '9' extended the Barça lead with another remarkable finish, this time acrobatically after a series of rebounds inside the area. Robert could have scored his first hat-trick of the season in the second half, but missed a penalty in the 67th minute with a very tight shot that hit the post.

With his double against Villarreal, Lewandowski regains sole leadership in the Pichichi ranking, adding 6 goals in 6 games (only 1 from a penalty). Kylian Mbappé had equalled the Pole on Saturday thanks to another penalty 'given' against Espanyol (4-1), but the Warsaw native is once again moving away in the scoring table, followed by Raphinha who also converted a double on Sunday to reach 5 goals.

Lewandowski, 'affected' by Ter Stegen's injury after Villarreal-Barça

At the end of the match, the Barça striker spoke to 'DAZN' about the victory and Ter Stegen's injury, to whom he did not hesitate to dedicate the victory. "It is difficult to talk about him. But yes, this victory is for him. For us it was very important to win today away from home. We scored five goals. In weeks when we play every three days it is important to win," said Lewandowski.

Regarding his good start to the season, the '9' valued the work of the team and the coaching staff to display a more direct and offensive football. "I think that this season we look for more passes or crosses to the area and that is my area. Now I can have much more contact with the ball," said the Pichichi. Robert will look to maintain his scoring streak next Wednesday, when Barça returns to Montjuïc against Getafe.
