Pedri González was once again named the MVP of the Barça-Osasuna match (3-0), in another recital from Hansi Flick's team

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona thrashed Osasuna on Thursday in the postponed match of matchday 27 of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-25 (3-0), in another great night for Pedri González. Once again, the Tenerife native took home the MVP distinction as the best player of a match dominated, from start to finish, by a Barça that had the victory in the bag within 21 minutes. Goals from Ferran Torres in the 11th minute and Dani Olmo from the penalty spot ten minutes later sealed the fate of a Navarrese team that was completely overwhelmed.

Pedri controlled the tempo of the match from the kickoff, adding depth to a Barça team installed in the opponent's half. In the 18th minute, already with Hansi Flick's team ahead on the scoreboard, the '8' filtered a pass that left Olmo one-on-one against Herrera. The 'rojillo' goalkeeper had no choice but to bring down the Terrassa player, earning a yellow card. Dani missed the penalty, but VAR alerted to Moncayola's encroachment in the area. On his second chance, the '20' did not miss.

With Dani's exit due to injury, Barça maintained high pressure thanks to the good work done by Fermín López. Pedri was close to setting up Ferran in the 40th minute, but the rival defense blocked the 'Shark's' shot after a great pass from the Canary reaching the end line. Just before halftime, another pass from the midfielder to Lamine Yamal created a clear opportunity, but the youth player lacked precision to finish the play.

Pedri, the undisputed MVP of LaLiga this 2025

In the second half, after Frenkie de Jong was substituted for Pablo Torre, the '8' took the captain's armband and Barça maintained control of the match, although the pace slowed down as the minutes passed. In the 77th minute, the third and definitive goal arrived, scored by Robert Lewandowski after a lethal counterattack from Barça. In the 84th minute, Flick decided to take Pedri out to give some minutes to Pau Víctor and allow the Canary to receive the ovation from the Montjuïc crowd.

In total, Pedri completed 89 of 98 passes (91%), with a couple of chances created and 7 balls recovered. Additionally, he won 4 of 6 individual duels and no outfield player completed more passes than him in the matchday. This 2025, Barça has played 9 league matches. In 8 of them (the 8 he played), the Tenerife native was named MVP. The culés are leaders with a 3-point advantage over Real Madrid, largely thanks to the work done by the player from Tegueste.
