Robert Lewandowski is aiming for another record with FC Barcelona in the 2024/25 season. The '9' could become the third oldest Pichichi in history if he finishes the season as the top scorer of LaLiga.
The 2024/25 season for Robert Lewandowski is set to be the best of the experienced forward with the FC Barcelona jersey. With three months of competition left, the '9' has scored 32 goals in 34 matches with Hansi Flick's team and remains the top scorer of LaLiga after 24 matchdays, with 20 goals. In this sense, the Polish player is aiming for a new record in his brilliant sports career if he secures his second Pichichi in Spain.
If he finishes the season as the top scorer of LaLiga, the Barça forward will become the second oldest Pichichi in the five major leagues in Europe. The record will still belong to the Italian Luca Toni, who finished the 2014/15 season as the top scorer of Serie A with Hellas Verona after scoring 22 goals. The Modena native was 38 years and 4 days old at the end of a campaign in which Hellas finished thirteenth, far from the relegation spots.
Lewandowski Close to Extending His Lead as the Second Oldest Scorer in LaLiga
In this sense, the '9' of Barça could become the second oldest scorer in LaLiga, only surpassed by Ferenc Puskás. The Hungarian was Pichichi of LaLiga 1963/64 with 20 goals at 37 years and 25 days old. Robert was 34 years, 9 months, and 14 days old when he won the Pichichi in the 2023/24 season. The Polish player scored 23 goals in his debut season, three fewer than he has at this point in the 24/25 season.
Karim Benzema is third on the list of the oldest scorers in the Spanish Primera División, at 34 years, 6 months, and 3 days, scoring 27 goals in the 2021/22 season. If he maintains his lead over Kylian Mbappé, 'Lewy' would be Pichichi at 36 years, 9 months, and 3 days old. Thus, he would surpass the age of the Italian Fabio Quagliarella, who was the top scorer of Serie A in the 2018/19 season with Sampdoria (26 goals) also at 36 years, 3 months, and 26 days old.

- Ferenc Puskás (Hungary, 37 years): 20 goals with Real Madrid in LaLiga 1963/64.
- Fabio Quagliarella (Italy, 36 years): 26 goals with Sampdoria in Serie A 2018/19.
