Dani Olmo has been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the upcoming matches of the National Team. How does this affect FC Barcelona? Find out here
FC Barcelona received great news this Friday thanks to the Spanish National Team. The call-up of Dani Olmo by national coach Luis de la Fuente for the quarter-final match of the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands legally secures the contractual situation of the player from Terrassa with the blue and claret team for the rest of the 2024/25 season.
Although LaLiga and its president, Javier Tebas, have challenged the precautionary measure granted by the Higher Sports Council (CSD), a measure that allowed Barça to temporarily re-register the midfielder for the second half of the 2024/25 season, his presence in the National Team forces both organizations and any LaLiga club to withdraw their legal claims.

LaLiga can no longer contradict the RFEF in the 'Olmo case'
Logically, a player without a license to play with his club could not be called up by La Roja, in any of its categories, for an official match. Well, the decision of De la Fuente to include Dani among the 27 called up for the double match against the Netherlands puts the 'Olmo case' to rest, even before the final ruling by the CSD, which must occur before April 7, the date by which the three months are due to issue the final resolution.
At the moment the '20' from Barcelona plays with Spain in any of the matches against the 'Orange', scheduled for Thursday, March 20, and Sunday, March 23, the end of the saga related to his registration and that of Pau Víctor will be a fact. In issuing the precautionary measure, the CSD argued that denying the licenses of both players would represent a serious economic and sporting detriment to the club and, above all, to the players that could also harm the interests of the Spanish National Team, as well as the rest of the national competitions, including LaLiga.
Still, both the employers' association and its president filed legal appeals to reverse the Council's ruling, accusing Barça of sending the necessary documentation late to renew the licenses of Olmo and Víctor, initially granted only for the first part of the season (until December 31, an unprecedented case in Spanish football).
Will LaLiga be able to even go against the RFEF to request the annulment of Dani's license? This would logically imply the possible elimination of Spain from the Nations League due to improper alignment.
