Real Madrid drew in Pamplona against Osasuna (1-1) in a match full of controversies from start to finish. Referee José Luis Munuera Montero correctly sent off Jude Bellingham for insulting him in the first half, but spared Eduardo Camavinga from a red card for two harsh fouls against Ante Budimir and Rubén García. The first was penalized, thanks to VAR, with a clear stomp and a yellow card. In the second, the Frenchman came out unscathed.

The penalty was the result of a clear stomp on Budimir, after the 'rojillo' forward shot a rebound from Courtois, following a save from a shot by Moncayola. Some 'merengue' commentators during the 'DAZN' broadcast claimed that the penalty was not sanctionable as it was a "residual play". Certainly, the foul occurred after the Spanish forward's shot, but it is an undeniable aggression and, fortunately, VAR called the Andalusian referee to review it.

In fact, the stomp was a late tackle that could have injured the Osasuna scorer, so Munuera Montero should have sent off Camavinga, but with Madrid down to ten due to Bellingham's red card, the referee resolved the issue with a yellow card and a penalty that Ante took advantage of to equalize the match in the 58th minute. However, this was not the only controversy of the afternoon related to the Madrid '6'.

This was Camavinga's stamp on Rubén García in the first half

In the first half, there was an action that both VAR and Munuera Montero, inexplicably, overlooked. Rubén García tried to dribble past Camavinga and the French international stamped the studs of his left foot directly into the leg of the Spanish player. For much less, Fermín López saw red against Sevilla. There was also an elbow from Kylian Mbappé to Moi Gómez omitted by the refereeing.

In both actions, the Madrid players were not even cautioned, but throughout the week there will be talk of the alleged unpunished penalties (for an unintentional handball by Catena and a dive by Bellingham), Bellingham's red card, and the stomp in the area that led to Osasuna's equalizer. This is how the media machinery of the 'cavern' works.
