The high-tension derby between Atlético and Real Madrid ended with incidents in one of the stands at the Metropolitano. Militao's goal and Thibaut Courtais' celebration did not please the Atlético ultras, who took it out on the Madrid goalkeeper.

The fans started throwing objects at the goalkeeper and the referee had to stop the match for ten minutes. In the resumption, already in the last minutes, Atlético equalised with a goal from Correa. In the subsequent press conference, Simeone strongly attacked the Real Madrid goalkeeper, accusing him of provoking the fans. This was Courtais' celebration:

Surely, the protagonists do not help. We provoke and people get angry. The reaction of the people is not right, but the protagonists cannot celebrate a goal by provoking the fans. We have to help and understand each situation. I do not justify the incidents, but we are the ones who provoke these situations.

The trainer of the Atletico Madrid, very angered, has asked a sanction for Courtois arguing that it would have to receive the same punishment that the ultras that have caused the incidents.

The person who threw the lighter must be punished, but also the person who provoked the fan. The same thing happened to Courtois at the Bernabéu when he was an Atlético player. This has happened more than once. But we are not the victims when we provoke.
