FC Barcelona's 7-0 win over Valladolid confirmed the great start to the season for Hansi Flick's men. The Blaugrana team has recorded its best league start since 2020/21, with a full house of points and 13 goals in its favour

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona maintained their perfect run in LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25 with a crushing victory over Valladolid (7-0) that confirms the good work done during the summer by Hansi Flick and his staff. The team displayed very attractive football against the 'blanquivioleta' team, with the verticality and forcefulness that usually distinguish the clubs coached by the German. Although the season has just begun, there are reasons to be hopeful about a solid Barça in all its lines.

In 2023/24, Barça began the tournament with 8 goals for and 4 against in the first four rounds, having dropped two points along the way after the goalless draw in the opening game in Madrid against Getafe. In 2024/25, the Catalans have had a perfect start, with a full house of victories and a total of 13 goals scored and only 3 conceded, with the duel against Valladolid being the first with a clean slate. To see a similar start to the league, we have to go back to 2020/21, when Ronald Koeman's men recorded almost identical numbers in the first four rounds, conceding one goal less (2).

Before the clash against the pucelanos, Barça recorded victories by the same score (2-1) against Valencia, Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano, with the duel against the 'lions' being the only one played at home. The victories at Mestalla and Vallecas, both coming back from a goal down, confirm the character of a team with a better ability to react compared to the previous season, in addition to being two difficult fields.

Flick, satisfied with Barça's performance at the start of LaLiga

After the match, Flick was happy and satisfied with both the win and the image given by the team. "I think it's a process. We had everything planned. It helps that, when you implement an idea, you win. Believing in what we want to do is important. We push hard and then we don't back down. We want to stay up there. It's positive to keep the spaces closed. The players are very good. Today we saw one goal after another," argued the Heidelberg native.

He also valued the support of the fans in Montjuïc. "We are very happy and satisfied with the performance on the pitch. I like the connection with the fans. I like to see that we all give our all. That feeling is transferred to the stands. It's good for them to see that the players play well, but also that they make an effort," said the German coach. After the international break, Barça will try to maintain the overwhelming pace in a difficult visit to Girona. Then, it's time to make his Champions League debut, also away from home against Monaco.
