The harsh punishment received by the Valencia fans who insulted Vinicius

A year later, the sentence was announced for the Valencia CF fans who used racist insults towards Vinicius Jr., a historic sentence for Spanish football. Those found guilty will receive a sentence of less than one year in prison and will be prohibited from attending matches in any competition organized by LaLiga and the RFEF, although not permanently

The Spanish football finish to live a totally unprecedented fact that promises to mark a before and an afterwards in the fight against the racism in the fields of football. Why? Well, it has attained the first conviction because of an indictment related with racist insults proferidos by part of fans to a player. In this sense, three individuals, fully identified, were found guilty to star some regrettable insults against the footballer of the Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr., during a commitment that took place on 21 May 2023 in the field of Valencia CF, corresponding to the day 35 of LaLiga 2022/23.

In this 'bump', the merengues were defeated 1-0 and the extreme of the combined white, that was expelled almost to the term of the duel, reported to have received racist insults by part of some followers of the club 'che' present in the Terracing of Animation. The legal consequences that will face these fans

These three characters, whose names have not trascended, were judged after a complaint interposed directly by LaLiga in front of the courts. Although the sentence has taken a bit more than a year in arriving, finally has pronounced and the accused have received a hard conviction: eight months of prison, in addition to two years without being able to ingresar to stadiums of football where play split of LaLiga and/or RFEF.

It is necessary to stand out that this sentence initially had a greater length, but was reduced because of a cause explained by LaLiga: "The penalty rose to 12 months of prison, that sees reduced in a third by cause of compliance in phase of instruction, remaining the effective penalty to the three accused in 8 months of prison and the coasts of the procedure". This reduction also applied to the period of veto in the stadiums, that initially was of three years, but reduced by the same reason.

'Vini Jr.', Javier Thebes, the Real Madrid... The different pronouncements around this historical sentence

As it was to expect, an event of this nature has not left indifferent to any sector, and there has been a series of statements of jubilation with regard to this type of sentences against the racism. One of them was Javier Thebes, president of LaLiga, the one who referred to this milestone of the following way: "This sentence is a big news for the fight against the racism in Spain, since it repairs the damage suffered by Vinicius Jr. And it launches a clear message to those people that attend to a stadium of football to abuse that LALIGA will detect them, will report and there will be penal consequences for them", sentenced.

Likewise, one of the protagonists of this situation, Vinicius Jr., it expressed his regocijo by this historical verdict through his social networks: "Many asked me that it ignored it, many others said that my fight was in vain and that owed simply 'play to the football'. But, as I always have said, I am not victim of the racism. I am a hangman of racist. This first penal conviction in the history of Spain is not for me. It is for all the blacks. That other racist have fear, embarrass and hide in the shadows. Of the contrary, will be here to earn. Thanks to The League and to the Real Madrid for helping with this historical conviction. More for coming...", it signalled.

To close, the Real Madrid also issued a communiqué expressing his satisfaction by the sentence dictated in the Court of Instruction number 10 of Valencia. In said communiqué, adds that "the three accused have accepted his penal responsibility and have made public a letter of apologies headed to our player Vinicius Junior, to the Real Madrid C. F. And to the rest of people that felt denigradas and offended with his behaviour". Besides, it stands out the historical importance of this conviction like the first in the history of Spain in his type, and reaffirms the commitment of the club in the fight against the racism, working to protect the values of the Real Madrid and eradicate any racist behaviour in the world of the football and the sport in general.
