Sandro Ramírez fulfilled the 'law of the ex' in Barça-Las Palmas. The striker joins the exclusive list of former Barça players to score against the club
The defeat against Las Palmas was a particularly painful one for FC Barcelona. The team managed by Hansi Flick lost its impressive unbeaten streak at Montjuïc, with Lamine Yamal on the bench and a former culé in charge of putting one of the nails in the 'coffin' of the Blaugrana.
Sandro Ramírez, a youth player from La Masia and a first team player in the 2015-2016 season, fulfilled the inexorable 'law of the ex' by scoring the first goal of the victory of the Canaries at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. A goal that allows him to enter an exclusive list of former Barça players to score at least one goal against their former team.
In the last decade, six former Blaugranas have made use of this implicit law. The first of them was Nolito, who wore the blue and red shirt on two occasions in 2010/11, scoring the first goal in Celta's victory at Balaídos against the Catalans (4-1) in 15/16. Six years later, in 21/22, the striker scored his second goal against the Catalans in the 3-3 draw in Vigo.
The other ex-Barça players to score against Barça
Later, it was Luis Suárez who scored twice against Barça. In his second season at Atlético de Madrid, in 21/22, the Uruguayan scored the second goal in the Colchoneros' victory at the Metropolitano (2-0), doing the same in the Indians' defeat at Camp Nou (4-2). That same season, Marc Bartra also 'vaccinated' the Catalans in Betis' 1-2 defeat in Seville.
Finally, in the 2023/24 season, Munir El Haddadi, wearing the Las Palmas shirt, scored the first goal in the Canaries' defeat against the Catalans, while Ilias Akhomach, a former La Masia youth player, 'took revenge' on his former team in Villarreal's 3-5 victory in Barcelona.
