The Blaugrana team visited Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu to play the first Clásico of the season and crushed them with a humiliating 0-4, securing the sole leadership (30) with a result that allows them to increase their distance to 6 points against the Merengues (24).
The Catalans took the three points thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski (x2), Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. For its part, Villarreal climbed to third position after beating Valladolid (1-2), awaiting the duel that will face Atlético de Madrid against Real Betis this Sunday at the Benito Villamarín.
Below the Colchoneros is Athletic Club (5th), who will close the day against Mallorca (6th) next Monday in a 'heated' dispute for the Europa League qualification spot.
Barça makes a statement in LaLiga
Rayo Vallecano rose to seventh place with its victory against Alavés (1-0), who are in fourteenth place, while Betis and Osasuna are in eighth and ninth place in the table with their pending matches to be played. Sevilla rose to tenth place after its victory against Espanyol (0-2), who dropped to fifteenth place, and Celta is in eleventh position before facing Leganés this Sunday.
Below are Real Sociedad, Girona, the aforementioned Alavés and Espanyol, and Getafe and Las Palmas, with Leganés, Valladolid and Valencia occupying the relegation spots. The matchday closes next Monday with the match between Mallorca and Athletic Club, while four more matches will be played on October 27.
