The seventh day of LaLiga 2024-25 closes without important changes at the top of the classification, including the solid leadership of FC Barcelona

The ninth day of LaLiga EA Sports 2024/25 closed this Sunday with Atlético de Madrid's draw in Anoeta against Real Sociedad (1-1). A goal by Luka Susic in the 84th minute prevented the 'colchoneros' from adding the 3 points, which means they remain in third place in the standings with 17 points, seven behind the leader, FC Barcelona (24) and 4 behind Real Madrid (21). The culés regained the lead on their own thanks to another solid win away from home, this time against Alavés (0-3).

Hansi Flick's men finished the game in just 32 minutes thanks to a hat-trick from a Robert Lewandowski on a roll. The Pole scored in the 8th minute, with a header, to open the scoring. He then repeated the dose in the 22nd and 32nd minutes with notable right-footed finishes thanks to assists from Raphinha and Eric García. The Brazilian had also put in the center of the 0-1, which brought him to 6 assists for the season.

For the '9', on the other hand, the day was 'round', because in addition to extending his advantage in the scoring classification (10 goals) he managed to surpass the 50 goals scored in LaLiga. After the Barça victory, Sevilla managed to win the Andalusian derby (1-0) against Betis, thanks to a penalty from Lukebakio in the 50th minute. Early on, Girona returned to its victorious path with a tight victory against Athletic (2-1).

With these results, Villarreal remains fourth in the standings with 17 points, the same as Atlético despite their fall on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu. Osasuna is fifth (15) after its draw in Madrid against Getafe (0-0), while Athletic fell to sixth place with 14 points, the same as Mallorca. The first half of the table is completed by Rayo (13), Celta (13) and Betis (12).

Further down are Girona (12) and Sevilla (12), while Alavés is now thirteenth (10), followed by Espanyol (10), Getafe (8), Real Sociedad (8) and Leganés (8). Valencia (6), Valladolid (5) and Las Palmas (3) are still in relegation positions before the national team break. LaLiga will return on Friday, October 18 with Alavés-Valladolid in Vitoria.
