Real Madrid tied FC Barcelona at the top of LaLiga after defeating Villarreal (2-0). The 'merengues' reached 21 points and are waiting for the result of Alavés-Barça
The LaLiga EA Sports classification begins to show a notable difference between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid with the rest of the teams in the highest competition of Spanish football. After Madrid's victory, culés and 'merengues' share the lead with 21 points, although the team led by Hansi Flick is still first for having a better goal difference (+16, while Madrid was +13). Barça can regain the 3-point advantage in the lead this Sunday if they defeat Alavés (16.15). Rounding out matchday 9 are the duels Girona vs. Athletic, Sevilla vs. Betis and Real Sociedad-Atlético.
