The works at the Spotify Camp Nou suffered a new setback this Friday. A fight between workers ended with around twenty workers fired and several injured

Calendar of FC Barcelona

This Friday's afternoon shift at the Spotify Camp Nou construction site was interrupted by an unfortunate argument between workers that ended in a monumental brawl. According to information leaked by 'MARCA' and 'SPORT', around 2:30 p.m., 20 workers began a real pitched battle that left at least six injured, luckily none of them seriously.

The fight required the intervention of the Mossos d'Esquadra to restore order and provide care to the wounded. Although the workers who carried out the mess have not been identified, they were workers of Albanian and Romanian nationality, belonging to one of the companies subcontracted to intensify the pace of work. The 20 workers were immediately fired and placed under the orders of the authorities.

One more mess for Barça with the remodeling of the Camp Nou

At the moment, around 1,750 workers are in charge of the remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou. This implies approximately 5,700 labor contracts carried out by 180 subcontracted companies that only last month were able to resume full-shift work, 24 hours a day. During the summer, hours were reduced at night and on weekends due to complaints from the residents of Les Corts.

Despite these setbacks, Joan Laporta and Elena Fort maintain a minimum of optimism regarding being able to reopen the culé temple in December of this year, although other directors point to February or March 2025 as a more realistic date to return to the Estadi. Barça has a contract to play in Montjuïc until December 31 and everything indicates that it will have to extend the agreement with the Catalan City Council for at least three more months.
