Absent from the competition for the 2024 Yashin Trophy, an award presented every year since 2019 that honors the best goalkeeper of the season. On this occasion, in the list of nominees released on Wednesday, September 4, after the 10 names that would be in the running for this award were revealed, the name of the Culé goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen did not appear, who is considered one of the best 'number ones' in the world today.

The Mönchengladbach native, who had been nominated for the Yashin Trophy 2023, this time failed to qualify for the award after a season full of ups and downs in 2023/24, where he missed 17 matches due to lumbar problems that required surgery. Additionally, not having reached his best statistics, having conceded 37 goals in 36 games and keeping a clean sheet only 17 times. Furthermore, with Barcelona ending the year 'empty-handed' without titles, it was not enough to make it onto the list of award candidates.

Similarly, it could be playing against him the fact that, out of the 10 nominees for this award, he is practically the only one who did not have significant activity with his national team this season. It should be remembered that at Euro 2024, Germany's starting goalkeeper was Manuel Neuer. As a result, the Culé goalkeeper perhaps did not have enough merits to inscribe his name for the third time in this prestigious list.

Below, on FCBN, we present the 10 names chosen by France Football magazine to compete for the Yashin Trophy:
