FC Barcelona is closely following the good moment of Francisco Trincao, a failed bet for the Barça team who, three years after his fleeting time in Catalonia (he only stayed one year), continues to shine in the Portuguese league with Sporting CP. The 24-year-old winger has 3 goals and 4 assists in 10 games this season with Ruben Amorim's team, statistics that exceed his good offensive average in 2023/24.

The one from Viana do Castelo arrived on loan to the Lisbon team in 2022 after a less than productive loan to Wolverhampton. In his first year he scored 13 goals and 4 assists in 52 games, while last season he scored a not inconsiderable 10 goals and 9 assists in 48 appearances for the Portuguese champion. In 2024/25, Trincao has maintained a very high level and, after a summer where he sounded like a possible reinforcement for several 'big players', he continues to improve his price in the European market.

Barça can still take advantage of Trincao's great moment

At the moment, the winger is worth 20 million euros, an amount that Sporting considers too low to let him go in 2025, as he still has one more year on his contract and hopes to renew it shortly. The Portuguese paid 7 kilos to Barça for his transfer in 2023, in addition to another €3M for the initial loan. The culés reserved a purchase option close to €20M (valid for 2 years), in addition to 50% of a future sale.

This factor leads the Barça team to remain attentive to the current status of the Portuguese midfielder, since Barça only managed to recover half of what they paid Braga for him in 2020 (€31M). Trincao, however, has a clear tendency to perform less away from home, which is why Ruben Amorim's men will try to 'tie him down' in the long term. Beyond the economic, it is clear that, sportingly, the winger depends a lot on the trust he receives. His talent has never been in doubt, but for now he has only managed to shine in his country.
