FC Barcelona had a total of eight departures in the last summer transfer window. The need to reduce the wage bill led the board to part ways with players like Sergi Roberto, Marcos Alonso, and İlkay Gündogan. The three left on free transfers, with the case of the German being the most striking as he had a valid contract. Below, we review the 1x1 of the former culés this season. Only Marcos Alonso (Celta) remained in LaLiga.

İlkay Gündogan (Manchester City)

The German has struggled to regain his star status at Manchester City, but the injury crisis in Pep Guardiola's team has brought him back into the starting XI. However, Gündogan is still far from the version he showed between 2021 and 2023. So far, he has scored a couple of goals in the Champions League and has one assist in the Premier League. The poor collective performance of the Manchester team has highlighted the individual decline of the player from Gelsenkirchen.

Sergi Roberto (Como, Italy)

The player from Reus started the season very well at Como under Cesc Fàbregas, being a starter in five of the first nine matchdays of Serie A. However, an ankle injury sidelined him for just over a month and he recently returned last weekend against Roma (he played 26 minutes in the 2-0 victory). So far, he has one assist in nine appearances (554 minutes).

Marcos Alonso (Celta de Vigo)

Marcos has regained confidence in Galicia, after a season in which he practically could not play due to injuries and doubts from Xavi Hernández. The 33-year-old defender has shown a very good level in 13 matches (1,080 minutes) with Claudio Giráldez's team, which is why he has made 12 consecutive appearances as a starter in LaLiga.

Marc Guiu (Chelsea)

The 18-year-old forward has lacked opportunities in the Premier League (he has only been called up four times in 17 matchdays, with just 23 minutes of action in the first match), but he has redeemed himself with 3 goals in 5 matches in the Conference League. The tough competition in the large 'blue' squad suggests a possible loan in January.

Chadi Riad (Crystal Palace)

The center-back arrived for 15 million euros at Crystal Palace, but a serious knee injury kept him out for the entire first half of the season after a couple of appearances in league and cup. The Moroccan hopes to return in January to fight for a starting position.

Sergiño Dest (PSV Eindhoven)

The U.S. international managed to secure his arrival at PSV Eindhoven on a 'free transfer', despite having torn his ACL in April. The full-back hopes to be ready to return in February 2025 with the same club where he shone on loan last season.

Mika Faye (Stade Rennes)

The center-back had a difficult start to Ligue 1 with Jorge Sampaoli's team, not seeing any minutes in the first five matchdays. However, he later added six matches as a starter in the league, until his expulsion against Nantes. So far, the 20-year-old defender has accumulated 511 minutes of action in 8 matches.

Julián Araujo (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth paid 10 million euros to Barça for him, but Andoni Iraola does not seem to trust the Mexican too much. So far, the defender is sidelined due to a left hamstring issue that has kept him out of the squad for the last five league matches. Before his injury, he was a starter in 3 of the first 5 matchdays of the Premier League (he has accumulated 359 minutes of play in 9 matches).
