The health crisis caused by the spread of the coronavirus has caused the complete stoppage of all sporting events in Europe. In addition, several countries have decreed a state of alert and force their citizens to stay at home to avoid the spread of the pandemic, forcing players to stay at home but continue exercising so as not to lose their physical tone.

Many athletes have posted videos on their social networks fulfilling viral challenges or of themselves doing specific work at home. In the case of Marc-André ter Stegen, FC Barcelona goalkeeper, he has given an interview to the German media 'Bild' in which he has shed light on how he is handling the confinement and how he is working.

The Barça keeper acknowledged that the fact that elite athletes have the obligation to work at home to keep fit and recognized that, due to training, he has no time left. "As athletes, we have a duty to continue working on our physical strength. I am busy all day trying to make the best of it. The fitness plan is constantly being adjusted," he explained.

Ter Stegen also explained that he receives instructions from FC Barcelona to know exactly the guidelines of the exercises he must perform to be ready when the team can return to training. "What he is doing at home will be verified. Where can you start? Where can I help? You try that. I am busy all day. I am a doorman at home," he acknowledged.

The FC Barcelona goalkeeper also explained that he has made a conspiracy with his family to encourage each other in the face of the difficult situation, which does not allow them to get out of the four walls of the house. "My wife, our son and I, all at home. It's about encouraging each other. There are new challenges online every day," explained the German.

Barça wants to renew him

Marc-André ter Stegen is one of the fundamental pillars of FC Barcelona and the club is already trying to extend his contract. The German confirms himself season after season as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, so he wants to be valued as such and that a substantial salary improvement be granted.
