Pablo Torre will not return to Racing de Santander. The club has ruled out the operation anticipating a possible sanction from FIFA and, for now, the midfielder will continue to alternate calls from the first team with the Barça subsidiary
Despite the rumors that placed Pablo Torre back at Racing Santander, the 19-year-old will continue at FC Barcelona. The club paid 5 million euros in July for the midfielder and, according to current FIFA regulations on the transfer of players, both institutions could be sanctioned if Soto de la Marina returned to the 'Verdiblanco' team less than two months after his transfer.
According to article 5bis of the Regulations on the status and transfer of players, Pablo must spend at least 16 weeks at Barça before resolving his transfer back to Racing, the club where he trained since 2015. With El Sardinero, Torre He added 10 goals and 11 assists in 34 games last season, numbers that earned him his arrival in Catalonia in the summer for a significant amount for a youth.
Xavi Hernández made him debut in the first friendly of the preseason against Olot (1-1), a match in which he displayed his quality and conditions to try to fight for a place in the first team. However, the kid had little participation in the American tour and, although the Egarense coach has promised to take him into account (he was a substitute on Sunday at Anoeta), it is clear that his minutes will be counted.
In that sense, the tough competition in the Blaugrana midfield is the main obstacle for Pablo Torre. At this point, the Busquets-Gavi-Pedri trident begins the season as the most reliable bet in midfield for the Egarense coach, with Frenkie de Jong, Miralem Pjanic and Franck Kessié as variants. Not in vain, Nico González chose to leave on loan to Valencia anticipating the few minutes he would have in 2022-23.
Rafa Márquez hopes to have Pablo Torre in the subsidiary
While the future of the midfielder is resolved, Rafa Márquez, coach of Barça Atlètic, hopes to have the 19-year-old midfielder for the First RFEF. The subsidiary has the obligation to achieve promotion after a very weak season with Sergi Barjuan and the contribution of Soto de la Marina will be key for a team that has undergone important changes in the summer. In this way, Pablo Torre aims to stay in Catalonia, at least, until January, trying to add minutes that confirm his status as a professional player.
