Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona won the pre-season Clásico against Real Madrid. With a double from Pau Víctor, Hansi Flick's team beat Carlo Ancelotti's men 2-1 and once again gave a great display of football in the second match of the Catalan team on the tour of the United States.

Flick started his first Clásico against Real Madrid with a 4-2-3-1, making up to seven changes with respect to the eleven with which he started against Manchester City. The only ones who repeated were Marc Bernal, Casadó, Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor. While key figures of the team reappeared in the XI such as Ter Stegen, Christensen, Balde and Lewandowski.

For his part, Ancelotti opted for a 4-3-3 and only made one change with respect to the first match of the American tour. Militao returned to the centre of defence, replacing Vallejo, and up front he repeated the trident of Arda Güler, Endrick and Brahim.

Rain marked the first half

Rain marked the first half at MetLife Stadium. From the first minutes, Courtouis was firm in attacking the culé team thanks to Pau Víctor who headed home with a powerful header from a corner kick. But the action did not last too long, because in the 12th minute the match was suspended due to the risk of thunderstorms. The referee asked the players to return to the locker room and the fans were asked to leave the stands to prevent any accidents.

Despite the rain, an hour later the match resumed with Barça looking to regain control of the ball, which they had before the match was stopped. In the 22nd minute the first goal of the match came for the merengue team through Arda Güler. The Turkish striker scored well after a through ball into space, but the goal was quickly ruled out for offside. In the 37th minute, Endrick came close to scoring for Madrid. The Brazilian received a pass from Modric in the area and fired a left-footed cross that went just wide of the post. The Merengues were livening up a Clásico that had chances for both sides.

But it was Barcelona who struck thanks to Pau Víctor. In the 41st minute, Álex Valle put in a great cross to the far post, Lewandowski missed the shot but converted it into an assist for the 22-year-old striker to score again for Barça. It was his second goal on this North American tour. After a difficult first half due to the rain, Flick's men were slightly superior, although the Merengues had good opportunities due to their young stars: Güler and Endrick.

Pau Víctor gave Barcelona the victory

After a quick half-time break of just five minutes, the players came out onto the pitch. The German coach made a double substitution: Junyent and Sergi Domínguez for Unai Hernández and Christensen. Pau Víctor came on to the pitch fired up and created two clear goal-scoring chances in less than two minutes. The first was a left-footed shot that Courtois stopped and the second a failed shot after a corner kick. He did not disappoint on his third attempt. His double came in the 54th minute from another cross by Álex Valle, who connected with Barça's '8', beating the Madrid defence to seal his third goal on American soil and earning all the applause from the fans.

In the 56th minute, Ancelotti opted for a triple substitution. Vinicius and Joan Martínez came on for Brahim and Militao. Nine minutes later we saw a carousel of changes in the Blaugrana team with Iñaki Peña, Fort, Faye, Raphinha and Guille Fernández replacing Ter Stegen, Iñigo Martínez, Álex Valle, Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor. The Italian coach of the white team also opted for young talents such as Nico Paz, Jacobo Ramón and Obrador for Endrick, Rüdiger and Fran García.

Nico Paz quickly began to create danger in the Barcelona area. In the 72nd minute, the Tenerife player missed a shot thanks to a spectacular pass from Vinicius, but he did not fail in the 80th when he reduced the difference to the culé team with the 1-2. The 19-year-old player received a corner completely alone at the far post, connecting a header to beat Iñaki Peña.

In the final minutes of the match, Raphinha tried to surprise Courtois with a shot from a low angle inside the area, but from then on we did not see much action in a match that only had two minutes of added time. Flick's team thus achieved their second victory in the pre-season tour in the United States, leaving good feelings for the third match against AC Milan.
