Real Madrid involved in a controversy, is it surprising? Not really. This time, the controversy was particularly prominent, as he may have faced a couple of sending offs against Alavés. However, none of these, despite being possible, materialized due to questionable arbitration decisions

Once again, Real Madrid has been involved in a controversial incident where the refereeing did not timely apply justice to resolve an action that would have justifiably harmed the Madrid team. This time, the controversy took place in the match between Real Madrid and Deportivo Alavés, valid for matchday seven of LaLiga EA Sports. In this encounter, the Chamartín team ended up winning 3-2, even though the Madrid players should have finished with one or two fewer players.

The situation was clear and it occurred towards the end of the match. In the 82nd minute, during a non-ball dispute between Real Madrid's forward, Endrick, and defender Santiago Mouriño, near Alavés' penalty area, it was evident how '16', in a moment of excessive aggression, intentionally kneed his opponent in the groin.

What were the consequences of this controversial action? He was only shown a yellow card and was warned about the roughness of his play. Undoubtedly, a chance that the head referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz and the VAR referee, Jorge Figueroa Vásquez, missed, as given the seriousness of the action, they could have reviewed the play to assess it better and possibly change the yellow card to a red one.

What about a possible expulsion of Vinicius Jr.?

Vinicius Jr.'s case was another expulsion that seemingly was forgiven in the match between Real Madrid and Deportivo Alavés. The forward received a caution in the 30th minute for vehemently protesting to referee Muñiz Ruiz, after what he deemed a punishable aggression from Uruguayan Santiago Mouriño.

At the end of the match, the Madrid '7' could have received a second caution. When he was substituted and was walking off the field, upon learning about the added time to finish the match (six minutes), he mockingly taunted the referee for the decision, an attitude that could have easily earned him a second yellow card and consequently, an expulsion. However, once again, this action went unnoticed by the officiating team.
