He has not even started his first season with the Merengue team and Kylian Mbappé is not happy with the way Real Madrid handled one of his greatest wishes prior to his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu

Probably few will remember, but Kylian Mbappé was called to lead the French team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The footballer was especially excited to represent his country, although his signing for Real Madrid frustrated his dreams of playing under the orders of Thierry Henry with the hope of taking home the gold medal.

The Merengue team refused to risk a possible injury to their brand new signing. For this reason, the forward will miss the final that the French team will play at the Parc des Princes against Spain next Friday, August 9, starting at 6:00 p.m. (Spanish time). Prior to the semi-finals of the Olympic tournament, the legendary French footballer, Robert Pires, spoke with 'Marca' and revealed how his compatriot felt about not being able to be at the Olympic event.

"I know that Mbappé is disappointed. I know that he wanted to play because it is a dream for many to play in the Olympic Games, especially because it is in France, in Paris, in his city," explained Pires. "But I think that in the end it is Madrid that is in charge. It is Florentino Pérez who is in charge. I think that we have to respect the president's word. What this means is that now Mbappé is more important for Madrid than for the French national team and for playing in the Olympic Games. I wanted to see him play with Thierry Henry as coach. But, as always, we have to respect Madrid's word."

Pires is happy about Mbappé's signing for Madrid

When asked about Kylian's signing for the white team, Pires said that "I am very happy that Mbappé has signed for Madrid. We all know that it is the biggest club in the world, that it is a club that knows what it is to win titles, be it La Liga or the Champions League. More and more great players go to play there because everyone wants to sign for the white team. For Kylian it is a great opportunity to reach another level. He has played for Monaco, PSG, in the French national team, but Madrid is another level above. We will see what he achieves with the white shirt, hopefully it goes very well for him and that he wins many titles." The Frenchman is expected to join his new team's training sessions on Wednesday, August 8, to begin preparing for the European Super Cup against Atalanta.
