The sale of season tickets for Montjuïc, although it has exceeded last year's figures, is still insufficient for Barça. The Catalans are the fifteenth club with the most season ticket holders, being surpassed, even, by four teams from the Second Division
FC Barcelona have shown signs of immense improvement in their first four games of the season. The Blaugranas remain unbeaten in La Liga and lead the table alone, but the excitement generated on the pitch has not been reflected in the stands. Despite the expectations surrounding Hansi Flick's team, the Blaugrana have not found the formula to get fans to go to the stadium.
The Catalans noticed a significant improvement in the sale of season tickets for this season, as from the 16,000 registered subscribers during the last season, they went up to 22,600. However, this number is still far below the usual number on Spotify Camp Nou, where up to more than 70,000 people used to buy the season pass to go see Barça live.
In fact, to convince fans to buy season tickets for Montjuïc, the Blaugrana club assured them that they will have priority when they return to the Barcelona stronghold this season, a return that the club estimates for the end of the year, and they have only paid half a season at much more affordable prices.
The comparison with the rest of the clubs
The data compared to the rest of the First Division teams set off alarm bells at Can Barça. The Blaugranas are the eleventh team in LaLiga EA Sports in number of season ticket holders with 22,600, far behind the 60,000 that Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid have, leaders of the table. However, above the Catalans there are also more modest clubs such as UD Las Palmas (25,000) or Real Valladolid (24,000).
Even in Catalonia, Espanyol has once again surpassed the Blaugranas for the second consecutive year. The parakeets have 26,000 season ticket holders and are in tenth place in the table, while Girona has fallen much further behind with a figure of 9,700 season ticket holders. However, the club hopes that after their return to the Camp Nou, the situation will return to normal, since in matches such as those of Athletic Club or Valladolid the attendance has been high.
Four teams from the Second Division surpass Barça
While in LaLiga EA Sports 10 teams surpass the Blaugranas, in the Second Division there are four teams that have more season ticket holders than the Catalans. Deportivo de la Coruña (26,607), Málaga (26,550), Real Zaragoza (24,304) and Real Oviedo (23,759) are the teams located above the culés in the table, with the Galicians and the Andalusians having recently been promoted from the First Federation. A real headache for Barça, who hope to get their situation back on track once they return to the renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
