Liverpool is not willing to let Trent Alexander-Arnold go. The England international is one of Real Madrid's targets, but the 'reds' are very close to renewing his contract with a lucrative 5-year offer.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Real Madrid may miss out on another 'top' full-back this year. After the options to sign Alphonso Davies evaporated, the 'White House' could face another tough setback soon with Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool defender's contract ends in June and he is Florentino Pérez's favorite to replace Dani Carvajal. However, the 'reds' are not willing to lose one of their stars for 'free' and are already working on his renewal.

For Liverpool, in addition to Arnold, there are two very important matters pending in the first half of 2025. On one hand is Mohamed Salah, the team's top scorer and star. On the other, Virgil van Dijk, the undisputed leader of the 'red' locker room. Like Trent, both will finish their contracts at the end of the season, but the right-back is the only one who, for now, seems close to signing a new contract, although rumors about interest from Madrid and FC Barcelona generated a lot of uncertainty at Anfield Road last month.

Arne Slot, firm on Alexander-Arnold's future

In the press conference before the classic against Manchester United, Liverpool's coach, Arne Slot, addressed the rumors about the full-back's departure, guaranteeing his starting position in Sunday's match. Furthermore, he made clear his expectations to see the best version of the defender in the coming months. "Everyone saw how good his half-season has been, how well he is here, and how much he wants to win here", added Slot.

On Saturday, 'Mirror' leaked what would be the last offer from the 'reds' to retain Alexander-Arnold: 93 million euros net for five seasons. This translates to 18.6 'million' per year, a salary that Florentino Pérez will hardly be willing to match to bring him to Madrid. Trent has played 333 official matches with the Merseyside team so far, scoring 20 goals and providing 85 assists. At Anfield, he has already won the Premier League and the Champions League, but the 26-year-old defender seems willing to extend his dynasty on the 'red' right flank.
