Barça plans to strengthen the right-back position next summer. Therefore, the culés have reactivated their interest in Marc Pubill, who was on the radar a few months ago
The FC Barcelona has marked the strengthening of the right-back position as one of the major priorities of the upcoming transfer market. Hansi Flick believes that his squad needs a new player in this position, where Jules Koundé has played practically all the matches and Héctor Fort has not convinced as a replacement for the Frenchman, so the sports management is already considering several alternatives for the summer.
The azulgrana entity, back in the 1:1 rule after the sale of VIP seats at the Camp Nou, is preparing to make a significant financial effort in the summer window and, in addition to Vanderson, they have once again set their sights on Marc Pubill, gold medalist with Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics, to bolster the right side of the defense.
Pubill was already on Barça's agenda
The Almería player is a familiar face for Barça, who were very close to signing him last summer on loan with an option to buy. However, the lack of salary cap prevented the operation from going through, but Deco and his staff have not lost track of him since then and he is one of the most favored options to act as a replacement for Koundé.
So far, the Catalans have only maintained contact with the environment of the under-21 international to have the upper hand and avoid him committing to another team, but in the coming months they could activate his signing.
Pubill, for his part, is focused on getting promoted with Almería and then making the big leap. The 21-year-old player has already given the blaugranas the green light in the summer and his agent has a very good relationship with the club, so, with almost certainty, his name will continue to gain traction in the offices of Spotify Camp Nou in the coming weeks.
