Carlo Ancelotti seems to have his days numbered at Real Madrid. Meanwhile, in Italy, Roma begins to dream of the possibility of signing him this summer
Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti seem destined to part ways next summer, just a decade after the end of the Italian's first cycle at the 'merengue' bench. Meanwhile, several clubs could be interested in the experienced coach for the 2025/26 season. One of them, surprisingly, would be Roma. At least that is what his former captain, Francesco Totti, hopes.
"Ancelotti is the best in the world at this. Yes. And if you talk to the players, they are all in love with him. There must be a reason for that", commented the former '10' of Roma on the Twitch channel 'Viva el Futbol'. The Italian coach renewed in December 2023 for two more seasons, until June 2026, but he will likely leave the 'merengue' bench if the team finishes the season without titles. In that sense, Totti did not want to miss the opportunity to send a 'wink' to the Reggiolo native to consider the possibility of returning to Italy with the club where he spent most of his career as a player.
Carlo Ancelotti's last experience in Serie A was not positive
For the 'wolf', signing Ancelotti would undoubtedly be a true 'bombshell' after a season in which they have had up to three coaches on their bench. The club started with Danielle De Rossi and then also dismissed Ivan Juric before going for the experienced Claudio Ranieri, who only signed until the next June 30. However, negotiations with 'Carletto' will not be easy.
And it is that the Reggiolo native, at 65 years old, does not rule out retiring from coaching after his second cycle at Real Madrid. The coach did not have a good stint at Napoli between 2018 and 2020 (he managed 73 matches, without winning any titles), which was his last time in Serie A. His experience with Bayern Munich (2016-2017) and Everton (2019-2021) was also not successful, the latter being the club before Florentino Pérez unexpectedly called him in 2021.
In 2023, the Italian was rumored to be the next coach of Brazil, an option that the coach ended up dismissing. Recently, Carlo made it clear how he faces his possible farewell to the 'White House' this year. "I will not decide when my adventure with Madrid will end. I am clear about that. The president will decide; sooner or later it will happen", he commented in a conversation with Italian actor Giacomo Poretti on his podcast 'PorettiCast'.
