Arsenal is pushing to make Leroy Sané their first signing for the 2025/26 season. What will FC Barcelona do about it?
Leroy Sané is strongly poised to return to the Premier League this summer. The forward, who came up through the Schalke 04 academy and won the English league with Manchester City twice (2018 and 2019), is uncertain about his future at Bayern Munich, although the management led by Herbert Hainer has tried to convince him to follow in the footsteps of Joshua Kimmich by signing a new contract.
According to 'SportMediaset', Arsenal is very serious about signing the player from Essen. The Bayern '10' seems determined to rule out renewing with the Munich team, which he joined in the summer of 2020 from Manchester City. Bayern paid 49 million euros for the winger, but risks losing him 'for free' in the next transfer window.
In this regard, Mikel Arteta is convinced of making Sané the first star signing for the 'gunners' for the 2025/26 season. The Spanish coach knows him well from his time at the Manchester club, where he accumulated 39 goals and 43 assists in 135 matches. Moreover, the possibility of signing him as a free agent is a bargain that the Londoners do not want to miss.
Barça Seems to Have Ruled Out Bidding for Leroy Sané
For their part, Barça seems to have already ruled out the German international as an option regarding left wingers. Hansi Flick also knows the 29-year-old player perfectly, having managed him both at Bayern and the German national team. However, the player's extremely high salary demands (his salary is around 20 million euros gross) make his signing practically impossible, even as a free transfer.
In addition to Arsenal, 'BILD' lists Liverpool as another club in the 'race' for Leroy. The 'reds' are uncertain about the continuity of Luis Díaz, another winger on Barcelona's radar. Additionally, the potential departure of Mohamed Salah, whose contract also ends in June, forces those at Anfield to bring in at least two 'top' forwards, as Darwin Núñez may also have his days numbered in the team managed by Arne Slot.
