Atlético Madrid has put a new offer on the table for Barça regarding Clément Lenglet. However, it falls short of the 10 million euros that the Catalans demand.
Clément Lenglet is experiencing his 'rebirth' at Atlético Madrid. After a couple of unsuccessful experiences in the Premier League, where he couldn't settle at Aston Villa and Tottenham, the Frenchman has rediscovered his best form under 'Cholo' Simeone, earning a spot in the Argentine coach's starting eleven thanks to his excellent performance.
The Atlético coach is completely fascinated with the central defender's performances, who, as of today, is still owned by FC Barcelona. However, although the player should, in principle, return to the azulgrana entity, with whom he renewed until 2026, at the end of the season, all indications suggest that his adventure in the capital will not come to an end this summer.
Barça and Atlético continue negotiations for Lenglet
According to the newspaper 'SPORT', the agreement between Atleti and Barça for the transfer of Lenglet is beginning to take shape. The Catalan team hopes to receive around 10 million euros for the defender's transfer, but the rojiblancos are looking to lower this figure. In fact, they have reportedly already sent the Catalans an offer that would be around 5 million euros between fixed and variable payments, a sum far from the azulgrana's expectations.
Although, for now, the positions between both entities are considerably apart, it is normal for them to reach an agreement sooner or later. Despite the fact that, so far, the blaugranas have remained inflexible, all signs point to them eventually conceding on their demands and they could agree to part with Clément in exchange for around 7 or 8 million euros.
The player, for his part, is delighted at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano and would be very pleased to continue with the Madrid team, with whom he has already scored two goals and provided one assist in the 21 matches played this season. The coming weeks will be crucial for his operation, but the future of the Frenchman is starting to look red and white.
