Alexander Isak is one of the dream forwards for FC Barcelona. However, five other major clubs in Europe are also interested in signing him
Alexander Isak is set to be one of the biggest attractions of the upcoming transfer market. The Swede has emerged as one of the most lethal scorers in the world this season, netting 21 goals in 30 matches with Newcastle, which is why FC Barcelona has started to closely monitor him, believing he is fully capable of taking over from Robert Lewandowski at the center of the attack.
However, the operation to sign the player will be anything but simple. The Nordic's impressive performance has not gone unnoticed by the top clubs in Europe, who have also joined the list of suitors for the next season. Although the Nordic would be excited to be part of the Blaugrana agenda, the tough competition for his signing puts the Catalans' options in jeopardy, as they are aware of the obstacles they will face in the race for the forward.
According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Isak's performances in the Premier League have sparked interest from giants like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United. Due to injuries or poor performances, all three teams have suffered from the absence of a reliable '9' this season, which is why they have set their sights on the star of the 'magpies' to give their attacks the definitive quality boost.
However, the desire to acquire Isak's services has extended beyond England, as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also have the scorer in their sights. The Parisians are looking for a top-level center forward since the only player they have in that position is Gonçalo Ramos, while the Bavarians are rubbing their hands at the prospect of pairing the Swede with Harry Kane to form a lethal duo.
The price of Isak, another key factor in the operation
Apart from the tough competition, the price that Newcastle would set for Isak would pose another hurdle for Barça. The Magpies do not want to part with their star player, whose contract expires in 2028, although they know it will be difficult to retain him if they do not play in the next Champions League. Despite this, after having paid Real Sociedad nearly 90 million euros in fixed and variable fees for his signing, they would demand more than 100 'kilos' to transfer him.
Additionally, the Swede earns around 18 million gross per season, and if he changes clubs, he would demand even higher wages. For this reason, the operation to sign the scorer would require a significant financial effort from the Catalans to successfully complete it.
Given the circumstances, the Catalans remain firm in their interest in the player, but aware of the existing difficulties in the operation, they are also closely monitoring alternatives like Luis Díaz or Rafael Leão, whose signings would be slightly more 'accessible' for the club.
