The future of Ferran Torres at FC Barcelona currently doesn't look too clear. Why? The 'Shark', who is under contract with the Blaugrana until 2027, has not been very influential offensively so far in the 2024-25 season, tallying just one goal and two assists in the 10 matches played before his injury.
This assessment is not only based on statistics but also on his performances on the field. Despite his willingness and repeated attempts to make an impact, even offering himself as an alternative in different offensive positions at Barcelona, it is clear that not all variables have been in his favor this season. This is beginning to spark speculation about whether the Blaugrana should consider finding a new destination for a player whose market value, according to 'Transfermarkt', is currently €30 million.
However, it is evident that this idea may have some level of complexity initially. Why? Apparently, in terms of the market, there haven't been many offers for Ferran Torres, and those that have come in do not seem to align financially with what Barcelona might be expecting for a player they acquired through a transfer in the summer of 2022 for a total of €55 million from Manchester City, and for whom they apparently wouldn't be willing to accept less than 25 million euros.
Barcelona Could Use Ferran Torres in Negotiating for a 'Top' Forward
Considering how challenging it would be to find an optimal price for his sale, the idea proposed by 'El Nacional.cat' is not out of the question. They recently suggested that Barcelona could use Ferran Torres as a bargaining chip to bring in a 'top' player.
In this regard, the source suggests that Barcelona wouldn't be opposed to making a move for one of the big stars of Borussia Dortmund, Karim Adeyemi, who was once linked with strengthening the Blaugrana squad. In this negotiation, Ferran Torres would be included to ease the transfer fee, which apparently would be around €50 million.
In this scenario, Adeyemi, who has scored five goals and provided five assists in eight matches during the 2024-25 season, could prove to be an intriguing addition for Barcelona, as he can perform effectively across the entire attacking front. Additionally, linking up with Hansi Flick wouldn't be entirely unwelcome for him.
Now, the inclusion of Ferran Torres in this deal, beyond being a like-for-like swap, would also address an old interest of Borussia Dortmund in the forward, whom they tried to sign in 2020 when he was shining at Valencia CF. Will this transaction come to fruition? Only time will tell.
