FC Barcelona is keeping an eye on the situation of Edward Cedeño, a 21-year-old Panamanian midfielder
If there is one characteristic that has defined the sporting direction of the FC Barcelona regarding signings, it is the search for young players with great potential who have not yet made their mark in the elite. The goal is to acquire them at a low cost, finish their development, and then choose between two paths: integrate them into the first team or seek a profitable sale.
In this sense, FC Barcelona seems to have added a new emerging talent to its list of potential signings. This is Edward Cedeño, a young 21-year-old player who many consider one of the great promises of Panamanian football.
Edward Cedeño would join Barça Atlètic
According to the Panamanian media 'Marcador TV', FC Barcelona is very interested in signing him for the upcoming season to play in the reserve team, Barça Atlètic. Currently, Edward Cedeño belongs to Los Potros del Este in Panama, although this season he has been loaned to SD Tarazona, a team competing in the Primera RFEF.
So far, the midfielder has played 19 matches with SD Tarazona, accumulating 1,422 minutes and registering a couple of assists. Given this situation, it has been reported that the Aragonese club will execute the buyout clause of €350,000, securing his contract for the next season.
However, everything points to this purchase not being intended for long-term retention, but rather to resell him at a higher price, given the growing interest from several Spanish clubs in his services. It should not be overlooked that Cedeño has shown interesting qualities that invite close monitoring of his development.
Will Barcelona go for the signing of the Panamanian midfielder?
Now it remains to be seen how this operation unfolds. If SD Tarazona acquires Edward Cedeño outright, it will be crucial to know the price at which they would be willing to sell him, likely well above the €350,000 they will have invested in his signing.
At the same time, his possible arrival at Barça Atlètic will also depend on how the season ends, both for the player and for the Barça reserve team, which has been fighting to avoid relegation in the Primera RFEF. Likewise, the team's sporting planning will be key in determining whether Edward Cedeño fits into the club's plans for the upcoming season.
