Julián Álvarez is one of the trending names in the football world. Aside from the controversy surrounding his figure due to the canceled penalty in the shootout against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16, the Argentine is becoming the standout player for Atlético de Madrid this season, tallying 22 goals and 5 assists in 43 matches.

These are the numbers of a true star that have put him in everyone's mouth, as the top clubs in the world have begun to follow him closely for the future. In this regard, Rivaldo, a Barça legend, advised the club to sign the Córdoba native, who could be the ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski in the attack. "He is a great player and I would love to see him at Barcelona; he would undoubtedly be a great reinforcement," emphasized the Brazilian.

The former footballer, however, highlighted that it all depends on the economic viability of the operation, as the mattress makers paid €75 million plus €20 million in variables to Manchester City to sign the 'Spider'. "Everything would depend on a detailed analysis by the club, especially in terms of finances and how this transfer could be carried out, but yes, I would really like to have him here," concluded the 1999 Ballon d'Or winner.

Liverpool has Julián Álvarez on their radar

Despite this, the competition for signing the Argentine will not be easy at all. According to British journalist Sam McGuire, Liverpool is preparing to offer a staggering amount for the World Cup champion next summer. The likely departures of Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota from the club, combined with the possible non-renewal of Salah, forces the 'reds' to strengthen their attack, and Julián would be the top candidate for the board.

To secure his signing, the offices at Anfield Road are willing to pay an amount exceeding €100 million to bring Álvarez into their ranks. The player has a release clause valued at 150 'kilos', so the intention of those from Merseyside would be to slightly lower this amount.

The interest of Liverpool in Julián would be firm and concrete, and a delegation from the institution, led by sporting director Richard Hughes, recently traveled to the capital to meet with the player's entourage and gauge his possible return to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, at Can Barça, they are keeping an eye on the forward, but right now he would not be a priority for the club. However, if he maintains his current level, this situation could change in the coming months.
