FC Barcelona is keeping a close eye on the future of Lucien Agoumé. The 22-year-old midfielder has shone with Sevilla, and Arsenal could also pursue him in 2025
Lucien Agoumé has been one of the biggest surprises of Sevilla in the 2024/25 season. The French midfielder has played 15 league matches with Francisco García Pimienta's team (10 as a starter), leaving a very good impression as a defensive pivot. The high level shown by the player from Yaoundé has not gone unnoticed by FC Barcelona and other major European clubs ahead of next summer.
According to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', both the Catalans and Arsenal are closely monitoring the future of the Frenchman. For the Blaugrana, the emergence of Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó provides reassurance for the future, but the management does not rule out adding another pivot, although the priority is aimed at a more experienced player. The 'gunners', for their part, expect to go for a '5' if, ultimately, the departure of Thomas Partey is confirmed at the end of the season.
Sevilla's plans for the future of Lucien Agoumé
For now, the Seville team owns 50% of the French midfielder's rights, who signed last summer for four seasons, until June 2028, for a fee of 4 million euros. Sevilla can still acquire the remaining 40% of his sporting rights for the same amount from Inter Milan, the team that paid 4.5 'kilos' for his transfer in 2019, where the player barely played one match with the first team.
The 'nerazzurri' sent him on loan to Brest, Troyes, and Sevilla, where Agoumé finally managed to settle after a six-month loan this year. Initially, the Andalusian plans aim to acquire a majority percentage of his rights, anticipating a high transfer fee for the future. For now, the player from Yaoundé is valued at around 6M€ on Transfermarkt.
