The FC Barcelona board does not rule out going for Luis Díaz next summer. The Colombian's value is high, but his salary would not be a problem for the club
FC Barcelona is keeping a close eye on Luis Díaz's future. The Catalans prioritize incorporating a left winger next summer, and the doubts in Liverpool regarding the future of the Colombian international may tip the scales in favor of a Barça that also has other very interesting alternatives 'on the table' for that position, including Nico Williams and Rafael Leao.
In this regard, the portal 'CaughtOffside' claims that the 'red' board expects to resolve the renewal of the South American winger soon with a significant salary increase, as his earnings are notably lower (around 3 'kilos' net per year) than those of the other major figure of the club, Mohamed Salah, who earns around €20M per season and has the green light to negotiate with any team since January 1. This factor (the salary) is key to Barça's interest in Díaz.
The profile of Luis Díaz fits into Barça's plans
With 'Lucho', there is a bit more peace of mind, as his contract ends in 2027 and his departure would leave a minimum of 100 million euros at Anfield Road. However, the club does not want to take risks with the player from Barrancas. Arne Slot, just as Jurgen Klopp did at the time, is delighted with the '7' and considers him a fundamental piece in the attack of a Liverpool that has completed a fantastic first half of the season.
Leading in the Premier, with a six-point advantage over Arsenal and one game less; also in the Champions, where they have achieved a full score in six matches, the Merseyside team does not want to leave loose ends or give distractions to their stars. In the case of Díaz, in addition to Barça, Manchester City is also lurking. The 27-year-old forward has scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 matches this season (1,540 minutes).
In this sense, after his third season in England, Barça would be clear: if Luis does not renew and there is enough salary margin, the Catalans can go for him next summer, as signing a left winger is a priority and the Colombian's profile fits perfectly into Hansi Flick's scheme. The other headaches for the Liverpool board are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, both in the same situation as Salah (their contracts expire in June). The full-back has, in fact, also been mentioned in the Catalan orbit and in a Real Madrid that, for now, also does not seem willing to invest in signings in January despite their multiple injury absences.
