Barça puts two of its youth players on the market, Flick gives the green light to their transfers

The FC Barcelona board can make important decisions in the next summer market regarding the formation of the squad for 2025/26. Although the club does not intend to force the departure of any of the footballers who are important for the sporting project led by Hansi Flick, several important names in the first team can enter the transfer list, with several surprises.

Two of the players who would already be among the possible discards for the next summer market are Fermín López and Alejandro Balde. Although both the midfielder and the defender had the full confidence of the coaching staff since the beginning of the preseason, physical problems and some rather weak performances in recent weeks have put their role as non-transferable in doubt.

Flick begins to lose patience with Balde and Fermín

The player from El Campillo is the one who has transmitted the least security during the last month. The '15' has not recovered the brilliant form he showed with Spain at the Olympic Games since the injury to his right thigh he suffered at the beginning of October and, in addition, the returns of Dani Olmo and Gavi have limited his opportunities. The Andalusian was a starter against Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Brest, without contributing much in attack.

With Balde, the need to sign a left-back in 2025 has also become clear, since his muscular problems have forced Flick to bet more than necessary on a Gerard Martín who is clearly not yet at the level required by a 'top' team. Even so, he has managed to maintain his starting position and on Tuesday, against Brest, he added his fourth assist of the season.

The money that Barça would earn from the sales of Balde and Fermín

In this sense, both Álex and Fermín could enter the transfer list at the end of the 2024/25 season, as long as they do not have a spectacular second half of the season, as happened with Pau Cubarsí last season. Both the defender and the midfielder have contracts until 2028 and 2029, with termination clauses of 1,000 and 500 million euros, respectively.

This factor allows Barça to aspire to transfers that would leave no less than 85-90 million euros in their coffers, since the two Barça youth players have several very interesting suitors in the Premier League. In any case, the board will not make hasty decisions and will wait until the summer to decide what to do with two of the players with the best projection in the Barça squad.
