Thiago Motta is creating a revolution at Juventus. The new coach of the Bianconeri team has decided to force the departure of several players, including Federico Chiesa. The Italian winger was not included in the list of those called up to face Brest in a friendly this Saturday.

After the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, Motta confirmed to the press that "Chiesa and the other players who were not called up to the pre-season match will not be part of the project". The coach explained that he has been clear with all of them and that they need to find them a new club as soon as possible. Others who are on the list of those who are not included in the project of the new 'Juve' are Wojciech Szczesny, Weston McKennie, Mattia De Sciglio, former Barcelona player Arthur Melo, Filip Kostic, Daniele Rugani and Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia.

The status of the Genoa-born player has changed drastically in recent seasons. He went from being considered one of the pillars of the 'vecchia Signora' project to a completely expendable player. The 'blame' for all this lies with the serious knee injury he suffered in January 2022. The Italian national team player was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament that kept him off the field for about 270 days and has caused him constant muscle problems.

Since then, he has not been the same. He has not been able to show the consistency expected of a player of his stature and style of play, whose explosiveness to make a difference in the past has not been reflected in the present. Now he is a predictable player and with a delicate situation because his contract ends in 2025. Juventus invested almost 60 million for him at the time and, with his transfer, they could finance the signing of another winger.

Barcelona could go for Chiesa

One of the teams interested in welcoming the former Fiorentina player is FC Barcelona. The attacking midfielder has caught the attention of the sporting management headed by Deco, due to the fact that the Bianconeri club would be asking for between 20 and 25 million euros for the player, despite the fact that he has a market value of around 40 million on Transfermarkt. The 26-year-old player would be happy to see a change of scenery, so he does not rule out any option at the moment. Teams such as Roma, Napoli, Chelsea and Tottenham have also asked about him, so the Catalans will have to move quickly if they want to be first on the waiting list for him.
