Frenkie de Jong's departure from Barça is 'stalled'. Although Manchester United would be interested in acquiring his signing, as of today there are no contacts between both parties and his future remains up in the air
Frenkie de Jong is once again in the 'eye' of the hurricane. As is becoming customary every summer, the footballer is the protagonist of several rumors that place him outside of FC Barcelona as he is one of the players with the most market within the Barça squad. The player is the object of desire of some of the continent's big clubs, with Manchester United being the most interested in acquiring his services.
The Red Devils are building an extremely competitive project at Old Trafford after completing a disappointing season in which they failed to qualify for any European competition. For this reason, the Mancunians closed the hiring of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, in order to reverse the complicated present that is being experienced in the institution. Now, Erik ten Hag would like to 'crown' his great transfer market with the arrival of Frenkie.
The Dutch midfielder is an old desire of the Red Devils, who have been trying to hire him for a couple of seasons. Barça's high expectations, added to the player's desire to continue wearing the Barça shirt, have prevented his transfer, but this summer everything could change. The culés need to make money and would lower their demands, valuing the player's transfer at 60 million euros. For his part, the Mancunians see him as the ideal addition to close their squad and, according to 'SPORT', they would spare no effort to sign him.
However, and despite the fact that Ten Hag would 'dream' of having De Jong under his command again, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that, as of today, there is no movement regarding the possible departure of the midfielder to the Premier League. There have been no contacts or conversations to date, so United's interest would be, for now, a 'wish' and not a reality. The market has two weeks left and surprising turns can happen at any moment, but, in principle, Frenkie's departure would be far from becoming something concrete.
The footballer's posture would be key
Can Barça views the sale of the Dutchman very favorably, since it would be a huge 'lever' to return to the 1/1 rule. Despite this, the player's injury represents a big problem for the club, since his recovery has been delayed more than expected and his return date to the playing fields is unknown. Furthermore, the midfielder would not have changed his mind and would have the intention of staying in Barcelona, where he feels very comfortable and is the highest paid player in the team and LaLiga.
Thus, Erik ten Hag's arguments will have to be very forceful to obtain the 'green light' for the footballer, whose main wish would be to win a Champions League wearing the Barça shirt. Meanwhile, the Catalan entity 'crosses its fingers' to get the Mancunians to make a move for the footballer and achieve a transfer that would represent a huge respite in the club's coffers, although, a priori, his operation seems very complicated.
