Bart Verbruggen could be the protagonist of a new battle between Barça and Bayern Munich. The Catalans are tracking the Dutchman, but the Bavarians are already preparing 60 million to sign him
The goalkeeping 'casting' is still 'red hot' at FC Barcelona. The serious knee injury of Marc-André Ter Stegen has reopened the debate under the three posts, and although Wojciech Szczesny has more than fulfilled his role as the German's substitute and his renewal is imminent, the sports management is aware that they must secure the future of the goal for the medium or long term.
The blue and garnet entity trusts that Ter Stegen will return fully recovered and will be back to his best version, so they would be looking for a young and promising goalkeeper who would accept a secondary role behind the German once 'Tek's' journey in the Catalan City comes to an end. In that sense, the Catalans have set their sights on Bart Verbruggen, a Dutchman shining in the ranks of Brighton.
At just 22 years old, the Zwolle native is one of the most promising goalkeepers in the market. His profile also fits perfectly with what the Blaugrana are looking for, being a very tall keeper, with great reflexes under the posts and good footwork. His progression has been amazing and he recently dazzled the football world with his great performance against Spain in the quarter-finals of the Nations League, making him one of the protagonists of the summer.
Bayern sees him as Neuer's replacement
However, his operation will not be easy. Despite having a market value of 25 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt', the Dutchman is tied to his current club until 2028 and his departure will not be cheap, as the seagulls are known for closing good deals for their players. For that reason, Bayern Munich would be preparing an offer close to 60 million euros to secure his services.
As reported by 'The Telegraph', the Bavarians have begun the search for Manuel Neuer's replacement and Verbruggen is one of the options that is most liked at the Allianz Arena. If they ultimately decide to go for his signing, the chances for Barça will be seriously compromised as the Catalans would prefer to incorporate him into their ranks in 2026. However, alternatives like Joan García or Lucas Chevalier remain on the Catalans' table, so they will need to make a decision in the coming weeks.
