Alphonso Davies is determined not to renew with Bayern Munich. The defender's position has bothered the Bavarian board and Real Madrid will reactivate negotiations to ensure his signing and leave FC Barcelona without options

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Bayern Munich would have already given up on Alphonso Davies, one of the full-backs in FC Barcelona's orbit whose contract expires at the end of 2024/25. The Canadian was close to signing for Real Madrid in the summer, but the Munich team did not lower its financial demands regarding an immediate transfer.

However, heading into January, the outlook looks much more favorable for the 'White House'. According to information leaked by 'BILD', the last 'summit' between the Bavarian board and the footballer's agent ended so badly that the club already considers him persona 'non grata'.

For this reason, Bayern do not rule out accelerating his exit in the winter market, although Vincent Kompany counts on the Canadian as a key piece in his scheme. Davies has started 10 of Bayern's 13 games this season, but the club is not willing to let him go for free in the summer.

Given the left-back's refusal to renew, a lower transfer fee in January (around 30 million euros) seems to be the least of the possible evils for the Munich team.

Madrid overtakes Barça in the 'race' for Alphonso Davies

In that sense, Madrid is, at the moment, the best positioned club to sign the one from Buduburam. Although the 'merengues' would prefer to wait until June to sign him at 'zero cost', Ferland Mendy's bad form and the serious defensive problems that the team is suffering after Dani Carvajal's injury open the door to some reinforcement in the next transfer window .

Alphonso has been a Madrid target for several months and, beyond the interest of Manchester United, the Canadian international would prioritize an offer from Barça or Madrid, even if Old Trafford offers him better emoluments.

The Barça team has also been attentive to the future of Davies, a very interesting 'low cost' option that has the 'ok' of Hansi Flick (the German coach coached him at Bayern), but the Catalans would only see his signing as feasible in the summer and with a much more conservative salary than what he would receive in clubs like United or Real itself.
