Viktor Gyökeres could be accelerating his departure from Sporting Club de Portugal, even during this winter market. Why? We tell you at FCBN
The Football Club Barcelona must be more attentive than ever to the situation of one of its candidates to strengthen the forward line: Viktor Gyökeres. Why? Initially, everything seemed to indicate that the departure of the forward from Sporting Club de Portugal was postponed until the next summer transfer window. However, recently, information has emerged from the Portuguese nation suggesting that the departure of the Swede could be accelerated sooner than expected.
The Portuguese newspaper 'Correio de Manha' asserts that Viktor Gyökeres, who has currently scored 25 goals in 24 matches, standing out as one of the hottest goal scorers in Europe, would be motivated to leave Sporting Club in this winter transfer window. A truly unexpected turn of events.
The reason for Viktor Gyökeres' early departure in winter
According to the mentioned source, Gyökeres may be tired of the current situation at Sporting Club, especially after the departure of Rúben Amorim. The Portuguese team has barely won a match since then (6-0 against Amarante FC in the Taça de Portugal). Following that match, there was the calamitous 1-5 defeat against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, and two consecutive losses in the Primeira Liga: 0-1 against Santa Clara and 2-1 against Moreirense.
This fact seems to have been the trigger that led the 'killer' to express his displeasure in the dressing room with the team, which could be the reason for his desire to leave the club. It is worth noting that the goal-scoring contribution of Gyökeres has significantly diminished in these three consecutive defeats, as the Swedish forward has only managed to score one goal in these matches, the sole goal for Sporting against Moreirense.
Does Barcelona have a chance to sign the talented Swedish striker?
Given this, it is not surprising that there is speculation about Gyökeres' possible departure from Sporting Club in the upcoming winter transfer window, with Manchester United being the leading favorite for his signature. The English club is in search of a top-level striker to strengthen their attack and would be willing to cover the transfer cost estimated between 70 and 85 million euros. Additionally, the presence of Rúben Amorim as the coach of the 'Red Devils' adds an extra allure for the 'number 9'.
Nevertheless, Barcelona cannot be ruled out in the conversation for Gyökeres' signing. Despite several complicating factors, the club could entice the player with an appealing sporting project.
However, if his departure is hastened in this winter transfer window, it is likely that Barça will be out of the running, both for economic reasons (given the club's financial situation) and for sporting reasons, considering Robert Lewandowski as the offensive leader of the team. The Warsaw-born player has established himself as the main reference in Barcelona's attack and is likely to remain so in the upcoming season, as he is expected to extend his contract with the team until 2026, leaving Gyökeres with little room to secure a spot in the starting eleven for the Blaugranas.
