Celta wants to avoid Oscar Mingueza leaving for Barça by renewing his contract. The Catalans do not have a buy-back clause and would have to negotiate his transfer

FC Barcelona will look to strengthen the right-back position during the next transfer market. The Catalans want to bring in a reliable substitute for Jules Koundé, while waiting for the 'explosion' of Héctor Fort, and one of the alternatives on the table is Óscar Mingueza, who has established himself as one of the revelations of the season at Celta de Vigo.

The Galician team wants to renew his contract, but they admit that the Catalans have favourable economic conditions if they decide to bring him back. "Barcelona has a right of first refusal and is entitled to 50% of a subsequent sale. It does not have a right of repurchase," explained less than a month ago Marco Garcés, director of football for the Celta club, making it clear that the Catalans could take advantage of a future sale of the player, although, as of today, Balaídos intend to retain him.

Will Mingueza renew with Celta?

Now, it has been the club's president, Marián Mouriño, who has revealed the Celtistas' plans with Mingueza in statements to 'MARCA'. "Marco Garcés is the one who leads the renewal agenda. Mingueza is happy here and we are with him, it is a matter of sitting down at the time that has to be done. The fact that Barcelona has a percentage of a sale is something usual, it does not only happen with Mingueza and it is becoming more common every day, it does not limit us, nor does it favor us, nor does it detract from us. What we want is for him to be here for a long time," she explained in the interview.

For his part, Mingueza, whose contract expires in 2026, is focused on his present in Vigo and is aware of their interest in acquiring all of his rights, while at Barça they have not yet made a decision regarding his possible return. "I have things very clear, I know what I want and right now it is to be at Celta and have a very good season on an individual and collective level," said the player some time ago, who will continue to be in the 'eye of the storm' if he maintains the great level he has shown so far.
