Change of plans? Barça's roadmap with Raphinha for the next market

FC Barcelona has a clear roadmap regarding Raphinha's future. The Brazilian has gone from being one of the possible transferees in the last transfer market to consolidating himself in Hansi Flick's lineup. For this reason, the board is already working on renewing his contract, understanding that, facing the 2025 summer market, it is the most sensible option given the risk of losing him due to a lower offer a year later.

Raphinha landed in Barcelona in 2022 in exchange for 58 million euros. The winger had a more attractive offer from Chelsea, but he opted for the Barça team to fulfill his dream of wearing the culé shirt. Both in 2023 and 2024 he had very interesting proposals in England and Arabia that he did not hesitate to rule out even though he knew he was being discussed by the fans and the previous coaching staff.

"My head has always been here. Every season I think about doing more than the previous one and showing that I am capable of being here for many years. I have received many offers, but the best thing for me is being at Barça," he commented weeks ago in an interview with 'RAC1'. The '11' had a bad time in his first semester in Catalonia, but he has managed to establish himself in LaLiga and today he is the team's second top scorer, behind Robert Lewandowski.

Raphinha's future, for now, is not in doubt in Barcelona

In that sense, the Barça board sees Raphinha's renewal not only as a strategic point, but also as a gesture to ratify the club's confidence in the forward. The one from Porto Alegre has dispelled the rumors about his departure with goals and assists that, for the moment, make him the only forward in the Barça squad who has played every possible minute in 2024/25.

Hansi Flick has turned the '11' into a key piece of his scheme, supporting unbalancedly on the sides along with Lamine Yamal all the verticality that Barça missed in previous seasons. The 27-year-old footballer has a contract until 2027 and a termination clause of 1,000 million euros. With the signing of a new contract, the South American attacker will be able to improve his salaries and feel calmer about the future, since his desire is clear: to stay in Barcelona for many years and help the team achieve another glorious era.
