Chelsea are not putting an end to the construction of their new project under the leadership of Todd Boehly and are willing to 'pull the house out the window' once again. After a dubious start to the season, placing themselves in eighth position in the Premier League with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss, those led by Enzo Maresca would like to strengthen their defence during the winter transfer market and have set their sights on Jules Koundé, who this season is being one of the most outstanding players of FC Barcelona.

Although the 'blue' team has shown signs of improvement after the defeat against Manchester City, defeating Bournemouth effectively, there are still some doubts regarding the functioning of the team. One of them would be at right back, where the performance of Reece James, captain of the team, continues to leave much to be desired. The Englishman is a footballer very conditioned by injuries, which is why the London team would be looking to reinforce the position in January.

Chelsea's offer for Koundé

And this is where, according to 'TBR Football', Koundé's name would enter the equation. The Frenchman was on the verge of heading to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2022, but the appearance of Barça and, above all, Xavi Hernández, ended up tipping the balance in favor of the Catalans. However, two years later, Chelsea would try again to sign the defender, in a transfer that could reach 60 million euros.

On the other hand, Jules' contract with the Catalan entity expires in 2027 and the now right-back has no intention of moving. Therefore, his operation is, to say the least, complicated, although from the offices of the Spotify Camp Nou they would not look down on a significant sale, since the Frenchman has a lot of market and would leave a powerful figure in the club's coffers.

Chelsea's 'Plan B' is another Barça target

If they fail in their attempt to sign Koundé, the British team would set their sights on Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman had a great season under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen and Barça had him on their agenda last summer, although now it would be the 'Blues' who would like to sign him. However, his signing would not be a priority for the capital team, since his cost is similar to that of Jules and Maresca prefers the Barça star.
